Jesus Saves

I'll never get over this fact: Jesus saved me.

The crazy part is, He died for me while I was yet still a sinner.

I chose sin. I chose this world. I chose to run from God, run from His goodness, and run from His grace. I chose all of those things. Maybe I wouldn't have said that out loud, but the choices I made said it all. I knew I was wrong. It was my decision to chase the pleasures of this world. No one made me do it, I wanted to. And by the time I finally realized how empty the world was, how it could never satisfy me, I was a slave to sin, and I needed someone to save me.

I deserved death. I deserved to face the consequences of my sin. I deserved the anxiety I felt. I deserved the emptiness, the brokenness, the loneliness. I was ashamed, alone, hopeless, and I deserved it all.

But God...

God loved me. He created me and desired for me to be with Him forever. And even though I separated myself from Him, He still pursued me. He went so far as to make a way for me to come back to Him, even when there was no hope for me. He didn't have to, but He wanted to because He loved me that much. Thank God that His love doesn't depend on me.

God sent Jesus, Himself in human form, perfect and blameless, He who knew no sin to become sin, all so that I would be given the opportunity to know His love, to experience His healing presence, and to inherit life that lasts far beyond life on this earth.

Jesus willingly stood in my place. He took on the consequences of all of MY sin. He took on my shame. He took on my death so that I wouldn't have to. As if my sin alone wasn't enough to crush someone's spirit (knowing how crushed I have felt by my own sin), imagine taking on every sin of every person that has and will ever live--that's what Jesus did on the cross.

He felt the weight of it all, and yet, He still chose to die in our sins so that we could die to our sins...so that we would no longer be enslaved to our worldly desires...so that we would no longer walk in chains.

But that still wasn't the end...

Jesus, being the spotless lamb, being the only one to walk this earth that didn't deserve sin, overcame it all! Death could not condemn the One who alone was perfect and righteous. Because of that, Jesus overcame death, delivering us once and for all from the consequences of our sin, TO ALL THAT WILL CHOOSE TO LET JESUS STAND IN THEIR PLACE!

He died for me,

And He died for you too.

You don't have to live in those chains anymore. You don't have to bear the weight of your sin anymore. You don't have to carry that burden anymore. You don't have to live that way anymore!

There's a better way...and His name is Jesus.
