CRY OUT

Cast your cares upon Him because He cares for you

When life becomes so overwhelming, where do you go…physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually?

The enemy has been attacking my mind this week, and taking every thought captive has been a hard-fought battle. It seems as if everything comes crashing down around me all at once, and in the overwhelmingness of it all, I become vulnerable. The doubts, fears, and lies of the enemy have sent my mind spiraling down into crippling anxiety. Why is the enemy attacking me?

It seems as though it's hardest to come to God when you're in those low places. You feel like God is somehow disappointed that you've gotten yourself in that position. Or maybe you don't feel like God is near enough to be concerned with you. Or you might even be so exhausted from the toll it has taken on you that you can't seem to find the energy to fight. Of course, the enemy wants nothing but for you to feel paralyzed. The enemy wants you to feel helpless. But even when you feel like God has abandoned you, I dare you to believe that He's still there.

In Mark 10, a blind man is sitting by the road when he hears that Jesus is among the crowd passing by. It says,

“When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, ‘Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!’ Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, ‘Son of David, have mercy on me!’ And Jesus stopped and said, ‘Call him here.’ So they *called the blind man, saying to him, ‘Take courage, stand up! He is calling for you.’ Throwing aside his cloak, he jumped up and came to Jesus. And answering him, Jesus said, ‘What do you want Me to do for you?’ And the blind man said to Him, ‘Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!’ And Jesus said to him, ‘Go; your faith has made you well.’ Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road.“

‭‭Mark‬ ‭10‬:‭47‬-‭52‬ ‭

Yes, the man found healing from his blindness, but God is revealing something much deeper here. The blind man cried out. He didn’t know what else to do, but he cried out anyway. He couldn’t see Jesus in that moment, but he cried out anyway. People were telling him to be quiet, but he cried out anyway.

I feel God telling me that same thing.

“Cry out to Me.”

Even if you don’t know what to say, cry out anyway.

Even if you feel like God is far away, cry out anyway.

Even if you feel silenced by the noise around you, cry out anyway.

He's there. He hears you. He cares for you. He will carry you through.

Keep calling on His name and keep fighting the good fight.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast."

1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬-‭10‬ ‭
